Outfoxed! Review: Catch the Pie Thief

Outfoxed! is a cooperative whodunnit built for little detectives, and it might be the gentlest, most charming introduction to deduction I have ever handed a child. A fox has stolen a pie, and the whole table works together to catch the culprit before it gets away.

The setup is like a friendly, pint sized version of Clue. There is a lineup of suspect foxes, and one of them is the thief. On your turn you roll dice, choosing whether to move along the board to gather a clue or to reveal a suspect and check it. When you uncover a clue, you pop it into a special decoder that tells you whether the guilty fox has that feature, a hat, a monocle, a scarf, and so on, letting you cross suspects off the lineup. The trick is the clock, because the thief is steadily creeping toward escape, so you have to gather enough clues and make your accusation before time runs out.

The joy is watching kids learn real deductive logic without realizing it. They start eliminating suspects, reasoning out who fits the clues, and cheering together when the group nails the thief. Because it is fully cooperative, there are no sore losers, just a team of small sleuths solving a mystery side by side.

It teaches in minutes, looks adorable, and gives young players a genuine taste of deduction wrapped in a race against time. For families with budding detectives, Outfoxed is a delight.

Are you the careful clue gatherer or the eager accuser of your group? Tell me below, and tell me how your little sleuths handled their first case.
