Guess Who Review – Deduction Game for Preschoolers Age 3

Yesterday morning began with juice cups, giggles, and a very serious investigation at the kitchen table.

My three-year-old niece Karma, detective hat firmly not on (because hats are itchy today), pulled out the bright red and blue boards of Guess Who? and announced, “We are playing The Face Game!” And who was I to argue? The boards clicked open with their satisfying little snap-snap-snap, and soon 24 curious faces were peeking up at us, ready to be questioned.

Now, if you’ve never played Guess Who?, let me paint you a picture: it’s a marvelous matching mystery where each player picks a character, and the other must guess who it is by asking yes-or-no questions. “Do they have glasses?” “Is their hair curly?” “Are they wearing a hat?” One by one, little faces are flipped down until—ta-da!—you’ve found the match.

Playing with Karma was its own delightful adventure. She asked questions like,
“Do they look like Grandpa?”
and
“Is she smiling like Mom when she sees cake?”
Every turn came with big thinking faces and dramatic guesses. I wish you could’ve seen her eyes when she proudly declared, “It’s Maria!” and she was right.

We talked about hair and glasses and freckles, but also about kindness and smiles and who looked like someone we loved. I was reminded that Guess Who? isn’t just about finding a name on a card—it’s about seeing people, really seeing them, even in cartoon form.

Also, let’s be honest: I lost. Twice. She’s a tiny deduction machine.

But more than that, we laughed. We bonded. We played a game older than she is, and somehow it still felt brand new.

So here’s to the classics. To morning playtimes. To board games that spark curiosity and joy. And to Karma—my little gaming partner, face detective, and bringer of giggles.
