Yesterday, I managed to convince one of my few non-gaming friend to play a game with me. She wanted it quick to learn, she didn’t want to stress or get caught up in heavy thinking. We ended up playing Roll for it! GenCon Edition by Calliope Games. We had a great time playing this effortlessly fun game.

This gem of a game is all about rolling dice and matching them to cards for points, a concept as simple as a summer breeze. The GenCon Edition, has unique dice and cards featuring vibrant, convention-inspired artwork. Each player receives a set of dice, and cards are laid out in the center of the table, each card displaying combinations of dice needed to claim it. On your turn, you roll your dice and decide which card(s) you want to attempt to match by placing your dice on them. If you can’t match a card completely, no worries! Your dice stay there, waiting for your next turn to try again. The first player to reach a set number of points from claimed cards wins.

What makes Roll for It GenCon Edition so enchanting was its blend of simplicity and strategy. My friend was completely won the game and we had a great time sharing the details of our day while playing. Caught on very quickly and managed to get 42 points securing the win.
