Munchy Multiples Parent Guide

Munchy Multiples – Parent Guide

How the game works, what your child sees, and the controls that are just for you.

Nothing here is required reading – the app is designed so a child can play on their own – but this covers everything in one place.

What Munchy Multiples is

Munchy Multiples turns math practice into caring for a friendly pet named Munchy. Your child answers math facts to feed Munchy; correct answers make it grow, earn treats, and keep a gentle daily habit going. There are no ads, no accounts, no chat, and no data collection – everything stays on the tablet.

Getting started

  1. Open the app. Munchy appears on the home screen – its “Pet Room.”
  2. Your child taps Feed Munchy.
  3. A math question appears with four big answer buttons. Tap the answer.
  4. Correct answers feed Munchy and fill its growth bar. Wrong answers get a gentle correction and come back later – never a scary “wrong!” moment.
  5. Play as long as you like, then tap I’m done for a short summary. Five minutes a day is plenty.

What Munchy’s moods mean

Munchy’s face shows how it’s feeling. It’s always gentle – Munchy is never upset or scary.

  • Happy – fed today, content.
  • Hungry – ready for a first session (a friendly nudge to play).
  • Sleepy – a day or two since the last session.
  • Missing you – a few days away. Still gentle, and it cheers right up the moment your child feeds it again. There is no penalty and nothing is ever lost.

Growing up

As your child answers correctly, Munchy grows through three stages – Baby to Junior to Mighty. Each stage is a bigger, more confident version of the same pet. Reaching a new stage is a little celebration.

Streaks (without the pressure)

Playing on consecutive days builds a care streak. It’s designed to encourage a gentle habit, not to stress anyone: if a day gets missed, the app quietly forgives one missed day per week so a good run isn’t wiped out by a busy Tuesday.

Rewards and the wardrobe

Every ten correct answers, Munchy finds a present – a hat, a backdrop, or a little treat. Earned hats and backdrops go into the Dress Up wardrobe (the button appears on the home screen once there’s something to wear), where your child can mix and match what Munchy wears. Every hat and backdrop is earned by playing – there is nothing to buy anywhere in the app.

The grown-ups area

Settings and progress controls live behind a parent gate, so a young child can’t wander into them. To open it, tap Grown-ups on the home screen, then:

  1. Hold the button for three seconds.
  2. Answer a short reading question (for example, “tap the word that means the opposite of ‘open'”). This needs real reading, so an early reader can’t get through by tapping.

Inside the grown-ups area you can:

  • Choose what to practice – multiplication, addition, subtraction, or division.
  • Set the number range – three tiers, so the difficulty matches your child. For multiplication and division they are 0-5, 0-10 and 0-12; for addition and subtraction the same three tiers go further (0-10, 0-20 and 0-30), since capping sums at 12 would be needlessly easy. The screen always shows the range for whatever you’re practising. All three tiers are available from the start – switch whenever you like.
  • See progress – current stage, care streak, how many facts are mastered vs. still being learned, accuracy, and total questions answered. The mastered and still-learning counts are for the mode you have selected above them, so they change when you switch between multiplying, adding, subtracting and dividing; accuracy and total questions are lifetime figures across every mode. The dashboard always names the player it is showing.
  • See the fact chart – tap My Facts for a wall-chart grid of the whole table in the current mode. Each square is one fact: filled in once it’s mastered, outlined with a dot while it’s still being learned, and empty if it hasn’t come up yet. It’s the quickest way to see which corner of the table a child is avoiding.
  • Manage players – add up to four children on one device, each with their own Munchy and progress. Player names are friendly presets (colours like “Red” or “Blue”, shown as a game-piece token), never typed-in real names.
  • Accessibility – turn on easier-to-read (larger, spaced) text. Every question also has a 🔊 Hear it button that reads it aloud for pre- and early readers.
  • Reset progress – start a child over (this asks for confirmation, and only affects the player you’re on).

What’s included

All of it. Munchy Multiples is a paid app – you buy it once on the Amazon Appstore and there is nothing further to buy. From the first launch every child on the device gets the full 0-12 multiplication table, the addition, subtraction and division modes, all three number-range tiers, unlimited questions every day, all three pet stages up to Mighty, and every hat and backdrop (earned by playing). No in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no ads, no upgrade prompts – your child is never shown a price or a purchase button, because there isn’t one in the app at all. If you reinstall, or move to another tablet signed into the same Amazon account, the app downloads again at no charge; progress itself is stored on the device, so a fresh install starts the pets over.

A few tips

  • Short and daily beats long and rare. Five minutes most days builds the habit; the game is built around that.
  • Match the range to your child. Start at 0-5 and open it up as they get confident.
  • Let mistakes be okay. Missed facts simply come back later – that’s how the game reinforces them.
  • Share a device happily. Add a player per child so each keeps their own pet and streak.
