Firefly Summer

Firefly Summer

Summer nights, whenever you want one.

One evening in a backyard

You are a kid with a jar on a summer evening, and you have about four minutes before dark. Fireflies blink on and off across the yard. Tap one while it glows and it is yours; tap where the light has gone and the jar just swishes through the air. Nothing is chased, nothing is scored against you, and nothing can be lost.

The jar is your lantern

Every catch makes the jar burn a little brighter. That matters, because the evening keeps getting darker — golden hour, dusk, twilight, dark, and then a deep night where the porch light is far away and the yard beyond your own glow is simply gone. By the last stage the jar in your hands is the only thing lighting the grass in front of you.

Then you let them all go

When the night ends the yard goes still and the lid comes off. Every firefly you caught spirals up into the dark, and they scatter out across the yard and keep blinking out there. Letting them go is how the evening is won — keeping them was never on offer.

Three jars

Catching fireflies over time earns you new jars, and each one changes the evening in its own way — a forgiving little jam jar to start, the classic mason jar with the punched lid, and an enormous pickle jar that holds far more light but still smells of pickles, so the fireflies hesitate at the rim.

Made for small hands

  • One input. Tap. That is the whole game, from the first second.
  • Nothing can be failed, and nothing is ever hurt.
  • No reading required — pictures and numbers only.
  • An evening pauses and picks up where it left off, so an interrupted game is never lost.
  • Plays fine with the sound off, and fine with the sound on.

What you are buying

One price, one game, forever. No advertising of any kind. No in-app purchases. No accounts, no sign-in, and no way for the game to reach the internet at all — it does not request the network permission, so it works on a plane, in a car, and anywhere else the signal has given up.

Real fireflies end in August

These do not. A jar of summer, all year long.
