From the moment I launched the Strongholds expansion, I was greeted with the familiar, elegant interface of Splendor, now adorned with strategic fortresses that promised a deeper level of gameplay. In this expansion, each player is endowed with three stronghold tokens. These fortresses serve dual purposes: they allow you to reserve specific development cards, effectively blocking your opponents, or you can choose to remove an opponent’s stronghold, thwarting their plans. This mechanic introduces a delightful tension, as every move must be carefully considered—not only for your gain but to anticipate and counteract the strategies of others.

You will notice the blue Stronghold is on the brown card. I have a couple of choices when placing the red Stronghold.

Notice below, I can place the red Stronghold on and same card as the blue Stronghold. If I do that, the blue Stronghold is returned to the other player and I also get my Stronghold back.

I can also decide to place my red Stronghold on a card, blocking the other player from getting the green card. If they really want that card, they will need to put their next blue Stronghold there, in order to remove mine and unblock the card.

If a player gets 3 Strongholds on a single card, they can choose to but that card as a bonus action. Whenever I play the physical game, we play in a way where we can get it free.

The blue player thinks about it and decides to move the Stronghold from one card to another. The blue player had 3 Strongholds on the brown card, and they decided to move one to another card(below). Do you agree with this choice?
