Monopoly Deal Review – Fast-Paced Property Set Collection Card Game

Monopoly Deal is a fantastic 15-minute card game that takes all the essence of Monopoly—the strategy, the thrill of building monopolies, and the joy of sabotaging opponents—and condenses it into a quick, dynamic experience. The cards are colorful and easy to understand, and the action cards keep everyone on their toes. It’s the perfect blend of strategy and lighthearted fun. Seeing the Railroads reminded me of the board game.

The objective of Monopoly Deal is simple: be the first player to collect three full sets of properties in matching colors. The game comes with a deck of cards featuring properties, action cards, and money. Do these cards bring back some of your Monopoly memories.

Shuffle the deck and deal five cards to each player. Place the deck in the center as the draw pile. Players take turns clockwise. On your turn, draw two cards from the draw pile, then play up to three cards from your hand. Check out the direction cards that each player gets.

You can do one of three things. You can add to your bank, put down properties or play an Action card. Below are some Action cards.

These cards, like Deal Breaker or Forced Deal to steal or swap properties, demand rent, or add a twist to the game.

The first player to gather three full sets of property cards wins the game. But beware—action cards can snatch your hard-earned properties or disrupt your plans in the blink of an eye! The Boardwalk and Park Place set is my favorite.

What makes this game truly shine is its portability and quick playtime. It’s ideal for traveling, casual hangouts, or introducing friends to gaming without the time commitment of a full Monopoly board game. That said, the action cards can feel a bit chaotic at times, which might not appeal to hardcore strategists. But for me, that chaos is half the fun!
