UNO Quatro was an absolute delight! It had all the charm of the original UNO, but with a clever twist that made each turn feel like a mini puzzle. Trying to line up four matching tiles while blocking my opponents’ plans added a layer of depth that kept me thinking ahead, planning my moves, and even occasionally pulling off some sneaky plays.

Inside the box, UNO Quatro comes with everything you need to get started. There there are 64 UNO Quatro tiles that come in four colors and have four different symbols or numbers on them, just like traditional UNO cards. You also get a grid board where you’ll place the tiles, trying to connect four in a row either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Each player grabs 3 tiles from the bag to start.

One nice thing, is that the tiles are color blind friendly. Yellow tiles have the star, blue have the diamond, red has the triangle and green tiles have the circle. As a person with several color blind people in my family, I have to say, way to go Mattel!

These tiles, are pretty special, and I refer to them as superpower tiles. The 4-tile allows you to push a tile down the tile, possibly ruining someone else’s tile placement. The 2-tile allows you to remove the entire, pop-out, column and switch it with another. The 1-tile has a -2 on it, and this allows you to take 2 random tiles from another player. The 0 tile, well this is a regular tile with no superpowers.

To set up, each player draws tiles and takes turns placing them on the grid. Players take turns placing their tiles onto the grid. Each tile has a number, a symbol, and a color, and you’re trying to line up four tiles in a row that share one of those features. The trick is to keep an eye on what your opponents are doing while also working on your own strategy.

Here are a few plays. Each tile needs to be either next to, in any direction, a tile with the same color or number, or it needs to be placed not touching another tile. Below is a fun move I made. I didn’t have a 2-tile, so I couldn’t win. I had a feeling that my friend had a red, so I played the 5-tile with the push down icon, so I placed it over the red 5-tile. Look what happens in the lower image. It is pushed out the bottom and now my friend’s dream of getting 4 in a row is gone!

After a tense back-and-forth, my friend managed to sneak in a diagonal row of four red tiles, winning the game with a well-timed placement. It was a satisfying blend of strategy and quick thinking, with just enough tension to keep things exciting! I wish it was me.

UNO Quatro is perfect for fans of the original game who want something fresh and fun, but with that same colorful, competitive spirit. It’s quick, engaging, and will leave you wanting to play just one more round. Whether you’re connecting colors, numbers, or symbols, this game is sure to bring plenty of smiles and friendly rivalry. So grab your tiles and get ready for some four-in-a-row fun!
